Breaking News!!! Days of Our Lives: Martha Madison and Brandon Beemer Fired!

I saw that and I thought it was a cruel joke. Granted I'm so NOT a Shelle fan but to fire them both? Especially when MM just resigned. So strange. I was starting to like Chloe with Shawn and Belle with Phillip. They weren't boring me to tears. This is just craziness.

Sure enough, fire someone who I hate and I'll start liking them the moment I hear the news!

Two core characters out!!?? They aren't going to be recast are they?!

And wasn't a major reason that NB/Chloe came back to DAYS because she's going out with BB? She's probably pissed too... where does that leave her story??

It does seem extreme, but I'm not going to shed any tears over it. Although I've liked them more lately I've never liked this Belle and Shawn.
And both of them being from core familys--there really isn't anybody on Days right now who isn't from a core family, so I don't see that as an issue. This isn't General Hospital. The show isn't hurting for Bradys.

Although Martha Madison is a good actress I have never really warmed to her as Belle. Kirsten Storms is the "real" Belle Black, and Shawn is as dumb as a box of rocks. Didn't Lisa say recently that the two of them should go off screen and have a bunch of babies? Well if looks like she got her wish.

It is a little sad since their storyline was picking up, but I think I'll get over it. I wish Bradon Beemer and Martha Madison all the best.

I think with the return of John Black and other notables that more cuts were going to happen.

jeopardy: you're right, almost everyone is from a core family on DAYS...I hadn't thought of that before

For the last few years I have really disliked Shawn and Belle, but I still think they're an important part of the show. Instead of getting rid of the characters, I would have liked the writers to just fix them...they were great once, and they could have been again.

The cast is bloated and they needed to make some cuts, and Shawn and Belle didn't seem to be that popular, so I guess it makes sense, but I still can't get over it... Bo and Hope's son & John and Marlena's daughter & their common grandchild not being on the show...Wow!

I think this could be a wise move for the show. They have both been semi core characters but in my opinion have not yet reached and captured the hearts of all the Days viewers. Interesting to see how things develop...

I don't know what to say.....I never saw this coming myself. I think it was either a choice between Shawn/Belle or Chelsea/Max group. Hopefully they keep Philip around longer because I still think he can be apart of many stories. It really makes me wonder who is next on their chopping block....my feeling is that it may be Bo & Hope! I think it could either be them or Steve & Kayla.

I'm shocked just because it seems rather out of the blue now. I hope the show lets them head off into the sunset together. I am not a fan of Shelle at all, (especially not Brandon Beemer, I feel bad for Martha) but when you cut two characters like this, it seems only right to let them leave in a happy ending. If not for them, then for their fans.
And like Jeapordy said, the show isn't hurting for Brady's. Drake's return is probably not cheap, and I expect more cuts to come through.

Wow.. that's terrific! Okay, I do feel for the actors, but I always use their screen time as either a day to skip or extended bathroom/snack breaks... the two actors have NO chemistry whatsoever. I'm sure in a year or two Claire will come back as a teenager

I am so upset right now. This makes no sense because they are Bo and Hope and John and Marlena's children. Why would they leave the show? I don't get it at all. What will Philip and Chloe do? I think I would have rather seen others gone before them.

I'm shocked myself. I've dreamed of the couple breaking up and maybe one of them leaving the show to get an education while the other gets a life out side of the other but I never ever thought it would actually happen.

Wow. I'm only a casual Days watcher but it seems like the show had a lot invested in the Shell/Philip triangle. Looks like the hardcore Days fans agree with my assessment that the two actors leave a lot to be desired. I didn't see the other versions of Bell and Shawn, but these two have zero warmth. Shawn just wanders around like an idiot. Philip is incredibly hot. They ought to give him something to do that doesn't relate to Belle.

Still--I thought the whole triangle/qauadrangle was becoming interesting now that Shell separated.

Would like to know how the cast feels if the return of John Black is the reason for budget cuts.

Surprised they didn't dump Patch/Kayla. Do they have something to do?

I don't understand why they are doing this... I mean Shawn is Bo and Hope's son and Belle is the only biological child of John and Marlena. So when they leave, Sami will be John and Marlena's only child left on screen... and we barely see Hope and Bo's daughter, Ciara! What happened to building the young group?

It is shocking that would fire both actors at the same time but you are right about Sami being Marlena`s only child living in Salem were are Brady and Eric and maybe they should bring back them both back and Rex and Cassie too.And maybe while there at it bring back baby Tyler and his foster mother or even Benig wife and son to that would be good.Because hasn`t had a good deaf character in an long time not sense ABBY on Guiding Light.
