No KeMo?! Sad

And Jennifer Gareis (Donna, B&B)? Uhm, no.

And Melissa Claire Egan (Annie, AMC) in the Younger Actress category? Really? REALLY?! What's the cut-off age, 32?

I believe Melissa is only

I believe Melissa is only 25.

I can't believe Kelly Monaco

I can't believe Kelly Monaco or Greg Vaughn didn't get a pre-nom. I am upset that Josh Morrow didn't get in there, he had some of his best work with his amnesia storyline.

Can you imagine what the All

Can you imagine what the All My Children section at the Emmy's will be like if Sabine Singh gets a nomination and joins her former cast and Budig is there? I would almost like Sabine to get nominated and win just so we could hear what type of acceptance speech she would give. I can't imagine her thanking Brian Frons or any of the other execs at ABC....boy that would be something.

Rebecca Herbst...supporting

Rebecca Herbst...supporting actress...really? What is the cutoff for supporting vs lead? Wasn't she in top 5 in total number of appearences for the year? Can someone explain?

Can someone please explain

Can someone please explain how this whole Pre-Nom process works and who decides these names and then who ultimately decides who gets nominated? (I think that is done by soap stars themselves)
Why is Becky Herbst always in the Supporting Actress Category?
She is certainly a lead actress.
And why is Kim McCullough there as well? She is also a lead actress.
And what happened to Finola Hughes?
It's also sad not to see Lindze Letherman nominated. She always gave 110% regardless of her lines.
Or Scott Clifton.
And John York has been amazing lately, esp with Georgie's death.
What happened to Maurice Bernard? He seems to get nominated every year.
Greg Vauhgn is also a great oversight.

Has Thaao Penghlis been on enough to be considered a lead actor?
And why no nom for LeAnn Hunley but a nom for Morgan?
Bryan Datillo is certainly a lead actor; he's in the main storyline and is on all the time (even if you are not a Lumi fan you have to admit he's on a lot).
Is Judi Evans nominated for her work as Adrienne or as Bonnie or both?
Why is the guy who played Ford Decker nominated? According to IMDB, he was on for 21 days. What about Frank Parker as Grandpa Shawn?
And why isn't Kristian Alfonso nominated?
And Lauren Koslow always brings in a solid performance, as does Julie Pinson (though they never used her well).

Why isn't Kim Zimmer from GL on there as well? She is the main actress on there.

Y&R has been too painful to watch, but I am surprised not to see Jess Walton (Jill) nominated. The supporting and younger actress nominations are pretty surprising more than anything else. Except for the one actress who has been on the longest, seriously what are people drinking??????
Maybe contaminated clear springs water.

I don't watch AMC, but I know that Alicia Minshew is a lead actress.

Carolyn Hennesy? She's fun,

Carolyn Hennesy? She's fun, but isn't she a day player?

mrsnoahdrake - Judi Evans:

Judi Evans: She was nominated for her work as Bonnie.

Kim Zimmer: I'm not too sure how the whole pre-nomination process works, but at least some of it has to do with whether an actor/actress even submits their name for it. Some actors choose not to submit themselves for consideration if they feel their work that year doesn't merit a nomination. Kim Zimmer has done that in previous years, and I think it's likely that she didn't submit her name again this year, so that would explain no pre-nomination for her.

Rebecca Herbst: As far as who gets put in what category, I think a lot of it is strategic and it just depends on which category they're more likely to win the nomination and the actual award in. Plus if a show has a certain number of actors that they want to put into the lead category, they might encourage an actor to go for the supporting category. Rebecca Herbst has always (to my knowledge) been in the Supporting category and she's more likely to get the nomination for that. I suspect this might change next year if she's kept front burner throughout 2008. I've written on another thread, that I think RH (usually categorized as Supporting) will eventuall "change places" with Kelly Monaco (usually categorized in Lead) in this whole awards process, but that's just a hunch.

John York/Lindze Letherman: John York did an amazing job with Georgie's death, but wasn't that in 2008? Maybe those scenes didn't meet the cut off date for the pre-noms? Same goes with Lindze's final work on the show... Maybe the pre-noms can only be based on 2007 work? Not sure about that...

The nomination process is so political though.. I think it has a lot to do with the popularity of an actor, who a show is "pushing" currently, etc...as opposed to who has actually given the best performances.

I am so glad that everyone

I am so glad that everyone on GL that I wanted to get a nom did. I see why nicole forrester got a nom if she does get a Full Nomination then she better submit her crazy scenes!

I know that people have

I know that people have favourites, but frankly it is an achievement award for acting, name by their peers, not a popularity contest.

Congrats to all the nominees, as per most of people I am confuse on who goes in which category, who decide to submit or not and all the politic around it!

I look forward to see who makes the final cut!

I read somewhere that

I read somewhere that Crystal Chappel mentioned that Kim Zimmer did not submit her name this year.
I was interested to see who has a pre-nom on GL. I was hoping Dorris Wolfe would be up for supporting since she had allot this year, but I think I'll take Beth Chamberlain instead.
I found it interesting that Lizzie is in the supporting and not the younger catagory.
Any one else find it funny that Remy has a nom? I'm pulling for GL but if he gets an actual nom for an emmy, it will be hard for me to see any credibility in the award.
I wonder why Beth Ehlers wasn't in it? Did she not submit herself?

BigDede's picture
The fact that Greg Vaughn

The fact that Greg Vaughn isn't on the list shows what a biased and popularity contest this is. Steve Burton did nothing to be on that list. His looks of "woo is me" concerning Jake and Liz were not that great that he should be on the Emmy list.

And MEGAN WARD! WHAT! I don't know who stuffed the ballot boxes with that one but I don't understand that. And how is she a lead actress, she just came on the show like a couple of months ago.

I understand KeMo not being on there and why Becky H is still support actress is beyond me. I just hope Rick Herbst gets another nomination this year. Hopefully that will get the writers to remove him from that horrible Marianne storyline.

timepass: I think the

timepass: I think the pre-nom, nom, and award process, as well as the decisions about which category someone is going to be placed in, has to do with a lot of factors, one of them being popularity. I just don't think most entertainment awards are based solely on merit.

It's been pretty well documented that people who vote for the Daytime Emmys often don't watch the shows or don't watch much (which is understandable). After the Pre-Nom process, when voting for the actual awards, they're going on the two shows submitted (which is something I guess) but then what are the pre-noms based on if most people aren't familiar with everone's body of work? I think that's when the other factors start coming into play. Just so you know, I'm not saying this because my favorites didn't get picked...I've felt this way for several years.

How is Alicia Minshew a

How is Alicia Minshew a supporting actress?
You can't make that show anymore about Kendall!

Carolyn Hennesy is only a recurring cast member.

I'd really like to know how

I'd really like to know how Tammin Sursok got an actual pre-nom? What about Adrianne Leon getting a nod? She contributed a lot more to the character of Colleen than Tammin Sursok has! Since the recast, Colleen has become an inept character that has nothing to do but talk to Lily and serve the residents of GC at the GCAC! At least Adrianne Leon brought it every time she was on screen! We really need her back as Colleen!
