BREAKING NEWS: Jennie Garth Returns As Kelly Taylor For "90210" Reboot
Class is officially back in session for Beverly Hills, 90210's most tortured California dream. An inside source revealed to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello Jennie Garth has signed up to reprise her signature role as Kelly Taylor for The CW's Fall spinoff, entitled simply 90210. Published reports say The CW hopes to air the latest series in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise (the original soap also begat the hit Melrose Place, which begat the short-lived Models, Inc.) back-to-back with the cult fave Gossip Girl next season.
When we last saw Kell, she was a public relations guru, but for the update, Ms. Taylor will work at good old West Bev as a guidance counselor (Can Tiffani Thiessen's Val be the sex ed teacher?). She definitely had enough bad experiences of her own during her high school and college years to empathize with this generation of uber rich SoCal teens. Kelly endured every indignity from cocaine and diet pill addictions, to amnesia, to those awful peasant dresses that were in style in the early 90's. Somewhere Shannen Doherty just hit her agent in the head with a cell phone.

I would love for Dylan or Brandon to show up-not as serie regulars-but for the occasional two or three episode arc, and I seriously would love to see Tiffani as the hot-as-sin sex ed teacher who shows up around say episode 13 to give Kelly hell! They could have two shows in one, the teens and their drama, and the teachers and faculty and there's.
Jennie Garth is my favorite actress from the original cast. Vanessa Marcil is my favorite from the show overall. Is there a spot for her in the revamped version? I would love that. Bring back Gina !!!!!!
With Kelly back they should also bring on her sister Erin. That would really tie all the pieces together. Now I have a reason to watch but I still don't think this new version will beat the old version.
I hope for Jennie's sake that her role expands because she's a recurring guest star, not a series regular, and she abandoned her CBS pilot to return to 90210.
