Roscoe Born Out at Days

With all the behind-the-scenes, executive suite shenanigans at Days of Our Lives, this bit of casting information managed to sneak under our radar. Veteran soap star Roscoe Born (Trent) has been let go, according to Soap Opera Network.
I am bummed to see Born, one of daytime's best actors (hey, he actually made Santa Barbara fans consider Eden being with someone other than Cruz as corporate raider Robert Barr!), out of work again. Hopefully he will be snatched up by One Life to Live to reprise the role of villainous Mitch Laurence. If that doesn't work out, there's always The Young and the Restless. All of Gloria's other hubby's had dopplegangers, why not Terrible Tom? (just kidding)

Alright, here we go! I think we'll start to see who wrote what very soon.
I never cared much for Trent (or for Terrible Tom, or Mitch Lawrence, for that matter, why all the psycho jerks?) but I'm sorry he's going. When I was a 12 year old Santa Barbara fanatic, I was totally in love with Robert Barr.
I'm worried for Days, too. What if we find out that all of the bad stuff was Dena Higley, and all the good Ed Scott?
I love RB, but hopefully this puts an end to the boring as hell Trent/Nicole storyline. In fact for his exit, could we possibly have a murder/suicide situation with him and Nicole? Now I would definitely watch that!
I love RB! Now only if he could go back to Y&R as Terrible Tom. I love how he would make Gloria sqirm! Sorry Luke!
I understand that the behind the scenes turmoil is probably the reason behind Roscoe's leaving DOOL but they are losing a very talented actor. His character and storyline was rushed, convoluted and poorly written so it makes sense that the "new" or "old" writing regime would see fit to just trash it. I do hope they close the story with some satisfactory conclusion though because he was revealed as Max's biological father and Nicole's husband. It deserves to be completed properly or turned into an event that can propel further story for those characters. Maybe a murder mystery? Who killed Trent? Max, Stephanie, Caroline, Nicole, Steve, Kayla and Nick could all be suspects if they set it up right. Otherwise, I wish the actor all the best. I know he will have no trouble finding another role in daytime. I think he outstayed his welcome on Y&R and OLTL though. So, maybe another soap could develop and fully flesh out and slowly pace a new character and his arrival and reason for being in town. That was DOOL's biggest mistake and why the s/l did not work. As for DOOL itself, considering we have no idea who is currently head writing or script writing, for that matter, they need to capitalize on the great, juicy stuff they have produced the last couple of weeks especially the return of Stefano and bringing all of the DiMera's back to the forefront. Last week's episodes, contained in the hospital, were truly soap goodness. For a long, long time fan such as myself, it was so refreshing to see them take their rightful place battling the Brady's in Salem. Trent and his relationships really came out of nowhere and could be easily disposed of now that someone on the staff has redirected the show's focus to the core, which as discussed on all of your "How To Improve" podcasts (which I have loved for all of the panelist's insights and ideas), is the main ingredient to making any soap better. Maybe Roscoe Born could join GL as a Bauer, which was a family discussed on the podcast as an essential family for that show to develop and grow back into a major component of Springfield. Could he be a good "Ed Bauer?" Anyway, it is a sad day for soaps when what is going on backstage is taking precedence over what is happening onscreen.
Good points KingTV.
Days didn't handle the character properly and, IMO put him with the wrong group of actors. Bad storyline, bad timing. No offense to those actors (Stax/Nicole) but they are supporting players at best and don't exactly pull people in. I think Days could benefit from "trimming the fat" with some of their talent. Again JMO.
I am super excited that the Dimeras are front and center again! The Bradys and The Dimeras make Days exciting and I hope this means they are featured more. The Summer of the B-squad has gotta end.
