Why To Watch Guiding Light

Spauldingfield, one of Daytime Confidential's long-time readers and a Guiding Light fan, sent this clip in explaining why those who've lost sight of "the light" should tune back in to TV's longest running serial. Check it out.

Brilliant!
They really are setting up his return nicely. Let's hope it all is worth the while and does SOMETHING to keep the light shining.

I love how you had so many clips of why to watch and what made the show great and showed only one clip to explain why people aren't watching! ROTFL! Besides the clip of Tom Pelphrey doing his best Marlon Brando/King Kong impression it was great, Spauldingfield!

Maybe the problem is that the die hards like Spauldingfield care more about the show than the people who run it do. It this commercial was on tv made someone might want to watch again. I'm going to make my best effort. But if you want to know what turned me off of guiding light look at this. It's when the fall started in my opinion:

Gush 900 can't be watching the same show,,,must be confusing GL with GH. We've already addressed the fact that GL has improved 100% in the areas your complaining about. Writing & production are much better than in the begining...try watching again instead of bashing.

Ive been a gl watcher over 10 years and ellen wheeler has destroyed this show. The only saving grace to this show is "bizzie".Cmon reva is pregnant at her age remy and his wife our a bore. For me gh is 100% better maybe like jamey said if pam long came back storyline would improve.

I started back watching, and I have to admit the writing is much better now. I still feel like I'm in a tin can while watching cos the sets are so small, but the Light is back on!

Improvements have been made, and even recent developments have prompted me to start watching again after a decade. However, I still think Ellen Wheeler needs to go...

I have GL back on my DVR and I am trying really hard not to fast forward through the commercials, as I hear that is the only way it will count for Nielsens (if I actually watch commercials). I was wondering if there ever was a soap in GL's current position that was able to turn things around and stay on the air? Anyone know?
Always soaptacular-
