The Ides of September will soon be upon soap fans. One of the final eight network soap operas is thisclose to being cancelled, according to TV Week. If you don't want to see broadcasting's grande dame, Guiding Light, replaced by a Barbara Bloom-developed game show or a talker, tell CBS CEO Les Moonves how you feel!

Suds Report first reported this back in November... but CALL — SAVE THIS SHOW. I hear there still may be hope! But alas it looks like the end days are here. No surprise, but it's sad.

Is the writing on the wall? I pray to God it's not over!

The end is getting nearer. I don't see much chance for survival, but stranger things have happened. It has to make financial sense for the network to continue airing Guiding Light. CBS could probably get better ratings at significantly lowered costs by airing a talk show or game show instead.

KEEP THE "LIGHT" SHINING! I've called the CBS Network this morning to let them know we love the show and it has improved greatly in the last six months.
IMHO, GL is currently much better than most soaps on the air; with its rich history and great writing/acting, we cannot let daytime's long-time jewel go off the air now.
I love Otalia, the endless wonderful Dinah, the Spauldings, the Coopers, the Lewis/Shaynes, the Bauers, etc, etc, etc. Tune in, Tivo it, watch the video-streaming, watch YouTube, e-mail your support, call in your support because now is the time to show CBS that we love and support GL!
Thank you Luke, Jamey, and Melodie of DC for giving GL a fair shake and great press/blog coverage on GL recently. I am looking forward in seeing all of you to unite and keep GL on the air.

I will be calling today, as well. I really hope it isn't too late. This show has finally turned itself around and it deserves one more chance.

Otalia could save this show! But there is a glimmer of hope. Check out my Nelson Ratings. Spoke to a high-level official regarding this matter.

See I still don't think Otalia can save the show, I guess i am in the minority of people here who dislike the couple, I dont see ANYTHING with them, they are not Joey/Charlie (Home and Away) or Sarah and Zoe (Hollyoaks)... I dont know i just am not impressed and i dont think they alone can save the show.

I just called the number for Les Moonves and the lady, who claims no knowledge of why people would call for Guiding Light, transferred me to CBS2 New York Programming, on whose machine I left a message. 38 year old male viewer in Orlando- I went to the Q & A with the cast last week.

I am planning on calling later today. I thought they kind of sounded the all clear on GL surviving another year a while back but i guess i read it wrong. Save Guiding Light! Someone should start a petition. I will if no one else wants to.

I really hope they are not going to cancel this show. It has been a part of my family from the time my grandmother watched it until now. I am a forty two year old school teacher, and coming home to watch GL is my relaxation. I admit, I have been sorry to see some of the characters go, but this happens on every show. I am sick of talk shows, cop shows, court shows and reality tv. After a long day at work, it is nice to come home and unwind to something comfortable and reliable, especially the way things are today. PLEASE do not take GL off the air. You would have many disapointed fans, fans, like myself, who have been watching for generations, because of our grandmothers and mothers! If GL was replaced by some nonsense, I would definitely not watch.

People please call everyday this week at least twice....keep calling them till they take the phone off the hook. This is the only way to voice our love for this show. When I called the nice lady on the other end of the phone was rather confused about what was going on...she then transfered me to a voice mail and I let em have it good. I told them I would personally pay for billboards in our hometown that would call for a CBS boycott. I hope others will do the same ...please let them know you will never watch any of their shows again if they cancel the longest running show in tv history!!!

Please keep Guiding Light on the air. I've only just discovered it and am so impressed by the quality of writing in comparison with some of the ABC soaps. It takes good writing along with good actors, and GL has it in spades, and I'm committed to it for the long run, so when I read that it was in danger of being cancelled in the next several months, I was very distraught.
Being an avid CBS watcher of many prime time shows, both currently and over the years, it's very disappointing to hear that such a long running soap like Guiding Light could meet such a fate. There are quite enough game and talk shows on at the present time, and if GL is replaced, I would definitely NOT be watching CBS during that time period.
I do watch The Young & the Restless on SoapNet when unable to watch on CBS, so perhaps you might consider moving GL over there in order to allow its many longtime and new fans the opportunity of continuing to enjoy this fine, quality show.
Please, Please...Keep the LIGHT shining!!!

It is disappoiting news that CBS is considering the cancellation of GL. GL Viewers and Soap Opera Viewers should express their disappointed to Ms Bloom and Mr Moonvies. I live in Australia and the show is not screened on our TV set. As a Soap Opera Viewer, I will contact Ms Bloom's office this Saturday and express my disappointment in CBS. I will outline as to why CBS should keep GL in their Daytime lineup and the disadvantages of it's axing. All Soap Opera Viewersd should do the same.

CBS has to save GL! I have been a fan for over 30 years and also happen to be the main purchaser of all household goods in my home. I can guarantee there will be no more purchases of Proctor & Gamble products made for my home if GL is truly cancelled. I look forward to this all day while I am at work and cannot imagine not having my GL to watch when I get home!
