I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sort of enjoying the antagonistic pairing of One Life to Live's Layla (Tika Sumpter) and Cristian (David Fumero). I really hope the writers drag this love/hate relationship out and don't rush it. Thanks to Evangeline and Sarah, there is plenty of history just sitting there ready and waiting to provide obstacles on their path towards self imposed "forbidden love."

I enjoy Layla and Cristian but their dialog seems forced. The only natural-sounding line in the sauna was when Cris said something like: "You just don't want me to see your hair frizz up." Now *that* was real! We've had several days of creating emotional tension with arguments. We can all see the argument that leads to the kiss scene. I hope the writers will surprise me. It's time for a few softer, quieter moments where they are clearly fighting their attraction. If OLTL is serious about this couple, they'll give them more than one note to hum.

I'm still not sure Tika can act, though likeable. She certainly hasn't been given any material, but I just feel like she's never been able to do anything with the material except do the same sassy line readings.
But the pairing seems forced, like they need something for them to do.

Look at John...and now Rex being seduced by Sleazy, I mean Stacy from Gigi. Aside from the proverbial love triangle, can't one couple just fall and love and have money problems, or lose a job...or develop severe depression or get political, or something?

I can't care about these two as individuals, so I can't care about them as a couple. At least where Layla is concerned, they haven't developed that character at all. Van has long been gone and we still don't know that much about Layla-- she's solely used as a prop for other characters. And as far as Cris is concerned, he called her a bitch several times. That is NOT foreplay! That is NOT sexy! And this coming from a character who is dumb as toast and seems to have few discernible goals in life. Sorry, can't get down with these two.

Yup they are pretty much a forced pair and they're scenes have been annoying with them getting stuck everywhere together. If you have to work this hard to sell a couple it usually won't work. They were put together because they didnt work with anyone else. Personally, I would have preferred that DF and TS were fired and KB and CS stayed on the show.

I'm loving these two for all of the reasons Luke listed. They have something many of today's insta- couples; lack a valid history together and I think they also have chemistry. The use of the bitch word didn't bother me because Layla called Cristian the biggest jackass on the planet and a moron and has been projecting her relationship woes on to him. What was he supposed to do, write her a letter with hearts and kisses and hand her flowers? It was a dynamic scene meant to highlight the antagonism of their exchange. That's the kind of interaction I'd love to see more of in daytime and they have a raw dynamic that can be uncomfortable to watch but it certainly isn't predictable.
As for the contrived locked in the steam room and freezer circumstances, since when is that a bad thing? I saw it as nothing more than a minor plot point to isolate them.They are funny together and their dialogue is edgy. I am all for a nice slow burn story for these two.
Color me confused as to why they are now blamed for what happened to Michael and Marcie though. I don't understand that logic at all.

OLTL has used the bitch word for years. Todd calls Blair a bitch frequently and commonly referred to Margaret as a bitch. Clint referred to Dorian as a bitch. Cristian called Sarah a bitch when she left the show. I could go on but it's not out of the ordinary. The use of the bitch word is becoming more commonplace. Where is the reaction to Layla calling Cristian "a son of a bitch and a jackass?"
Frankly as a woman, the use of the bitch word doesn't bother me because I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the word doesn't apply to me and therefore the use of the word doesn't denigrate me. I grew up listening to Biggie Smalls and Tupac and I was never outraged when THEY referred to women as bitches so I'd be hard-pressed to get upset about a soap using the word. And in the 80's on Dynasty, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest and Dallas, the women were called bitches plenty of times and the world lived on.
