More Guiding Light Writers Defect to ATWT
By Jamey Giddens on June 25, 2009

What About Your Friends? Look for Guiding Light co-head writer Lloyd "Lucky" Gold to accompany David Kreizman over to As The World Turns once GL wraps production in August. Reportedly ATWT is bringing back the function of breakdown writing, and Kreizman and Gold are set to fulfill that need on the show. Gold has been a part of the oddly constructed pair of head writing teams GL set up in its final quarter and previously served in a more traditional co-head writer function at GL from July 2001-Nov 2002. Gold also wrote scripts for Another World and One Life to Live in the 80's. Good to see soap showrunners continuing to look out for their old pals instead of searching for newer blood that might actually save the genre (Sri Rao anyone?). I hope everyone is investing in their IRA's.

Not going to anything. Just lip service to the fans. If P&G really wanted to save the show CG and JP would have been fired LONG AGO.

They brought over these asshats but Jill Lorie Hurst will be unemployed as of August 7th. What the hell. Is this opposite land or something

I don't know about Gold's reputation but I've heard nothing but bad things about Kreizman.

I think that CBS soaps will suffer from the backlash of GL and ATWT being canceled. P&G and TeleNext have only themselves to blame.

Why does this industry believe in recycling the same HACKS?!?! Am I the only one who is completely puzzled by this?

Well tori, when you (meaning P&G/CBS) want to show to die, you hire hacks to do it. Makes sense to me.

September 2010 can't come to quickly, IMO. I wish the fans who are going to "rally to save" ATWT the best of luck, but I'm not going to waste my energy, time and patience.
TIIC have only themselves to blame for the situation they're in. They threw in the towel long before it was announced back in April 2009, that ATWT were being renewed for one year.

ATWT is already in the toilet; I don't know how much worse it could get.

Maybe this means GL will get new writers If it gets picked up now wouldn’t that be something, god help ATWT. I see Babs: The Destroyer hand in this, she still has her sword slashing everywhere. Y&R and B&B are next.

As breakdown writers, I really don't think they could do any damage to what Goutman tells Passanante to write. The problem is really there.
And maybe reinstituting breakdown writers means a general change in writing; i.e., the end of three-week long story arcs.

Bring in Jill Lorie Hurst in as head writer, but soaps are going in the next five years and I sad, I want a drink, LOL>
