DC #423: ABC Mistresses on the Side
On today's ABC episode of Daytime Confidential Luke, Regan, Tina and Nicki discuss the latest in All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital news and storylines, including:
Kendall's men problems continue, as All My Children ramps up for its Cougar storyline. Are Erica and Ryan even remotely appealing? Who should Kendall end up with if Ryan is with Erica and Zach is with Liza? Luke has a suggestion that the others don't like. They say Doctors are the worst patients, in Frankie's case it seems to be true. Liza has mommy issues. Can the child really be protected from David Hayward?
Michael's anger issues are giving Drew Garrett some great material, but does he really have impulse control problems? Matt gets drunk and has a chip on his shoulder. Tina weighs in with her thoughts on Martha Byrne's debut on General Hospital. Should the show have provided better build up for the introduction of her character? General Hospital was doing a Cougar storyline with Olivia and Johnny before All My Children did it with Erica and Ryan.
Marcie gets her miracle baby on One Life to Live. Cole was sentenced to prison time. Does anyone believe he'll actually do a full sentence? Could Starr be raising their daughter on her own? Todd's reaction to Cole proposing had Regan cracking up. Dorian woke up with a hangover, but do we buy Ray being the love of Dorian's life? How will Natalie factor into the Rex and Gigi saga? Gigi tries to seduce Kyle while he's more interested in Fish.

I love your podcasts. Sometimes more than the show I watch.
Stacey really adds nothing to the canvas and I truly wish they would end this nonsense. Get rid of her and stop bringing in so many new people.
I loved the drunken Dorian and hung-over scenes and that was only because of the actress. Dorian Lord does not fall to pieces over some man! Dorian's heartbreak would have resonated more for me had the show given us more Ray and Dorian scenes or even if she received the final divorce decree from David at the same time Ray left town. Since Tuc Watkins, it appears, will never again have a regular presence on the show, I hope they bring back A Martinez. Ray and Dorian had great potential and sexual chemistry --something the show's main couples (Rex, Stacey, Gigi, and Schylar or Starr and Cole) will ever hope to obtain.

ABC soaps have falling again and something is telling you that tiic needs to go. Frons needs his walking papers along with Guza, Phelps, Pratt, Caruthers, and whoever is ruining the industry and get someone who wants to save it. But that isn't going to happen until a cancellation notice is upon them and then we will get great soap. Not before fans tuning out.

I think Erica w/Ryan is tacky ... it's her daughter's ex ... to me ... that's wrong wrong wrong. I wouldn't even date a friend's ex ... let alone my daughter's ex.
I think .. to coax Annie to get nutz ... that's one thing ... to really have a relationship .. just plain wrong.
If you're gonna Cougar-ize Erica ... get a new man please ... let her hook up with DA North since it won't last too long and involve her w/another trial.

I'm not hating on STARZ, Jamey. It was just weird that it popped up in the middle of the podcast. In the beginning was one thing but in the middle was just odd. Is there a way to pay the bills and keep the ad in the beginning or put the middle one at the end? It sounded like the podcast didn't actually pause for the ad at all but that the STARZ announcemment just talked over it.

I was wondering about the Starz ad, too. It did seem like it came in the middle of the conversation.
Otherwise, a great podcast. I'll miss Kathy Brier terribly on OLTL, but I'm glad her character got such a great sendoff. GH is virtually unwatchable at this point, as is AMC, with the exception of Amanda and Jake. The Cougar s/l is laughable, but Luke, keep Erica Kane AWAY from my Zach! As Belinda said in a previous podcast, at least w/ Ryan and Erica together in scenes I can fast-forward!

Anyways, if listening to a few commercials keeps the DC site and podcast up and running then I'm all for it!

I loved drunk Dorian this week but I would've liked to have seen a bigger sendoff for Marcie and Michael. It was cute to have Marcie come out and show him the pregnancy test, but I would've liked to see them seeing some of their friends and telling them their pregnant.
I'm actually liking more of AMC these days too. I like the Erica/Ryan storyline except I think their taking it too slowly, espically in comparison with Adam/Annie. Give me a break! Luke. I'm with you on J.R. and Kendall, that was the only time I liked J.R. but I think Kendall would have to return to her devious roots for it to work.
