The "Real" Dylan Lewis and Bridget Reardon Return to Guiding Light!
By Jamey Giddens on July 22, 2009

Reva Shayne's (Kim Zimmer) first born son is returning to Guiding Light in the form of the actor who originated the role. CBS.com is reporting Morgan Englund is reprising the role of Dylan Lewis. Also returning is the phenomenal Melissa Hayden as Mo Bauer's niece Bridget Reardon! Here's hoping Bridget brings Peter, her son with the late Hart Jessup, and the grandson of the legendary Roger Thorpe (the late Michael Zaslow), home with her when she shows up in Springfield.

Jamey, you supposed to use "original", not real, after the "The Real Greenlee" campaign fiasco, LOL. JK, but I don't know why after the show goes off the air, they want to get back actors the fans want instead of the doing this in the first place. P&G should be ashamed of themselves for the mess they created this mess to get the show off the air.

This is awesome news, I couldn't think of a better return than those two as GL will be ending on Sept. 18th! Those were the days of when Bridget/Nadine/Billy/Vanessa were kicking high gear around in the Peter storyline along with Hart, David, Kat, and Dylan. With the returns of Jenna, Ed, Michelle, Danny, and Mindy; the soon-to-be returning of Ava, Jonathan, Holly, Dylan and Bridget it is really rocking over at GL and the show is giving me real closure that I will be overly pleased and happy that GL will be ending on a high note. I think once GL is done, I will be done with daytime for a few years just like I did when AW went off the air.

Too little, too late.
But aside from that OMFG I'm so excited to have them back.

siomonstuart2003, Morgan Englund declined to reprise his "Dylan" role back in 2007 and did not want to relocate from west coast to NYC because of family obiligations. This casting move forced the show to cast Brian Gaskill for the Harley/Daisy storyline which was picking up steam but unfortunately it didn't work out because Morgan is the real "Dylan." Now that GL is wrapping up soon, it makes sense to bring him back for the sake of millions of loyal fans who still watches the show.

I'm so excited about this news! It's just a shame it took GL going off the air to bring back these enjoyable characters along with the talented actors who originally played them. But at this point, I'll take what I can get!

RocketsGl, how dare you put Ava in the same sentence as those other names you listed,LOL
Anyway, this is great news, the show is going off the air and this is what we want to see. I'm sure they will not have a storyline but just to see them will be great.

This is the best news! I have been thinking about the two of them lately, and was wishing that we could see them again. Awesome!

Will the real Dylan Lewis please stand up, please stand up? LOL I think he just did! I am ecstatic that the real, original Dylan is coming back and Bridget, too. Wow, this is awesome! I was just starting to say Guiding Light can go kick rocks for the next month and a half until the last day. I guess now I will try to do better with watching until the end.

YAY!! Bridget and Dylan are back!! Lets hope they do more than Danny and Michelle.
So Reva will be the center of attention and have all her sons around her but not her daughter...I guess the fact that Marah had an affair with her sainted dead husband puts a damper on things. Reva never liked competition.

My heart is filled with so much happiness and sadness at the same time. I am thrilled that actors that I grew to love are coming back I know it is because GL is saying goodbye, and this will be just as hard as when I said goodbye to Another World

Woohoo ! More good news... Can't wait to see the original/real/authentic/classic/ Dylan.....and Bridget Reardon...Like everyone else, I don't understand why it took a CANCELLATION notice for Ellen Wheeler to get it together! Having said that, I appreciate that she is bringing these folks (Danny, Michelle, Robbie, Holly, Ed, Colin, Bridget, Dylan) back before the show ends.
I hope Bridget shares scenes with Matt Reardon (her brother) and Vanessa and Billy Lewis...That would be so cool.
One last wish (for now), please bring back Nola Reardon too! She was part of Matt and Vanessa's wedding and would still be relevant to today's show.

I read this earlier today and was so glad to hear about this! I read in Soap Opera Digest months ago when GL was first cancelled and they had the actor's past and present comment on it and Melissa Hayden (Bridget) say she would love to return to the show before it ends. I am so glad that the show is bringing them back!
I agree that Nola and Quint should also return! So should Marah, India, Amanda, Ross (if we can get Jerry Ver Dorn from OLTL),etc. And too bad we can't get the real Cassie back but she's on contract with General Hospital, and Beth Ehlers as Harley but she's in the same boat with AMC. Too bad ABC can't let them come back to GL. I know CBS is competition but GL is the longest running drama in history!!!

This is great news about Bridget and Dylan returning. Gaskill did alright, but everytime I saw him I just thought, where is classic Dylan? The one who rowed Mama Reva in the boat to her wedding to Josh. Last time he was on was during Reva's first bout with cancer, and he looked GREAT. As for Hayden, Briget was awesome back in the day, I still remember she had a look about her that nobody else had. Such fun when when it was her hair dryer started the Springfield Blackout of 1992! Like another poster said, its so sad it took cancellation for us to see these great characters again.

I'm sorry but I have to say it how I feel it. Final-fucking-ly. Pardon my French. I could watch the other airings of The Wendy Williams Show to watch GL again till the end if we got these great characters and good stories. It's really a waste how the let this show fall down so far and now they're scrambling to give the viewers what they wanted all along.
Telenext sucks. Not for hacks though.

This is soooooooooooooo great. Bridget is one of my all time favorite GL characters. I remember rushing home from school everyday to be home before 3 during her Nadine "Appalachia" storyline. I am so glad they are giving viewers a great stroll down memory lane (Ed, Holly, Danny, Michelle, Mindy) as the show winds down. Only downside is Kimberly Simms, not Krista Tesreau was playing Mindy when "real" Dylan was on, but other than that, this is perfect news.

When Bridget was front and center on GL, I was the biggest fan of the show! Melissa Hayden is such a remarkable actress. I never understood why she didn't pop up on another soap opera or in primetime. I cannot wait to see her again.

It's great that everyone is so excited about Morgan Englund coming back. Personally, Morgan (or the character of Dylan) ever did that much for me.
But could we show a little more respect? As in, does anyone remember all the fuss about 1.5 years ago when ABC trumpeted the "real" Greenlee's return? As another poster pointed out, Morgan Englund CHOSE not to come back when GL brought back the character. And whether you liked Brian Gaskill's version of Dylan -- why do the posts have to become so personal and petty?
In my opinion, you can always "prefer" the CLASSIC version of a character... without making childish remarks about another actor. I agree that I wasn't a huge fan of Gaskill's take on Dylan... but I don't have to ridicule him to do that.
Imagine if any of you had thousands of people judging every moment of your work (deserved... and undeserved.)
I think it's possible to be a total fan and critic of the genre... while still remaining a decent person. And in my opinion, childish name-calling is NOT decent.

sactownfan,
Guiding Light is ending. Fans are just excited to have the actor who portrayed Dylan for the longest time return. Haskill portrayed Dylan for a very short time. This is likely the last time we'll Englund on screen with these actors.

Jonathan..... Check
Dylan.... check
Colin.... check
Shayne.... check
We will see all of Reva's son's, I'm not so sure at the same time, but I think we will get a Shayne,Jonathan, Colin and Reva scene. I hoping that we get to see Dylan with Reva, Shayne, Colin as well and of course with his father Billy.
The big question is, will we ever see Reva's only daughther Marah, who is currently working with Mindy in Paris? Shanye & Marah are one of the few siblings on this show that actually share the same mother and farther. To bad Marah doesn't come back for Shayne's upcoming big day, you would think she would.

Joss,
I get the excitement. I was thrilled when I heard Krista Tesrau was coming back as the original Mindy. But I could express my excitement for that... without personally degrading all the other actresses who have played Mindy after her.
So, yes, of course, bring on the excitement! But the petty, juvenile comments? Joss, you made NO attempt to defend them.
Unless you can justify attacking any actor because they are not YOUR personal favorite...
Again, saying they are not your favorite actor to inhabit the role is one thing. But to ridicule them for personal attributes the poster knows NOTHING about?
Lame. And even beyond lame, it's embarrassing, and shameful.
For example, Joss, I disagree with your post 100%... but I never disagreed with YOU as the poster, never took a cheap shot...
That's all I would hope anyone does on ANY site... my rule is... if you don't have the balls to say it to someone's face... then don't hide behind an anonymous website.

sactownfan,
I'm afraid you aren't going to like D.C. because the site's authors and the fans here rip apart the poor acting capabilities of actors, shred the wretched writing of scribes, and kick at horrible management of production and network execs.
No one is going to track down some actor and tell her or him that they suck. That's a little stalkerish.
I can't comment on Brian Gaskill's run as Dylan. I didn't watch it. However, if some made a personal attack against him as a human being, I might question the attack or defend him.
From what I've read here. No one has said anything cruel or mean about Gaskill. "Alright" is hardly a perjorative phrase.

Joss,
Thanks for the reply. And you might be right... this website might not be for me. We'll see. Because I do like good humor... but to me, it's a lot harder to be funny situationally... as opposed to just taking a cheap shot. It's easy to call someone fat, or ugly or stupid...
And for me, as a fan, when I don't like something... I'd like to think I have enough brainpower to either offer up a real suggestion, or try to make a witty (but not mean spirited) remark.
If I just wanted to be obvious and insulting... I would just vote for Palin.
(See? That's an example of the cheap shots I was talking about. Yes, it's still mildly funny... but it's cheap, and easy... and not deserving of a real laugh.)

g27, I agree that it's too bad that Kimberly Simms couldn't return as Mindy, she was my favorite (as you can tell from my avatar lol)! Too bad they couldn't also have her on, they could switch the Mindy's up back and forth like they did the Becky's on Roseanne lol.
And siomon, they should have Bridget and Kat clips on youtube, I believe I have seen them before on there. I loved those two as friends, especially starting trouble when they first came on together, the show was getting better when that happened.
