BREAKING: Susan Haskell Wins Outstanding Lead Actress (Updated)

One Life to Live's Susan Haskell won the Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy on Sunday, in what could be one of the most competitive categories of the year.
Haskell returned to One Life to Live and found herself in the midst of the controversial "Rapemance" storyline. It's culmination–which featured an amnesiac Marty Saybrooke pulling a gun on Todd Manning (Trevor St. John)–was the submission that won her the award. Her performance beat out The Young and the Restless' Jeanne Cooper in dual roles, Debbie Morgan's Angie reuniting with Jesse (Darnell Williams) on All My Children, Maura West's scenes opposite of Michael Park on As the World Turns and Susan Flannery's Stephanie Forrester at Eric Forrester's hospital bedside on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Haskell's Outstanding Lead Actress win is the first in the category from One Life to Live since Erika Slezak. She joins the ranks of notable One Life to Live actresses who have won the award, including: Judith Light, Robin Strasser, Erika Slezak and Hillary B. Smith.
Haskell won a Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy in 1994.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Debbi Morgan - All My Children
Maura West - As the World Turns
Susan Flannery - The Bold and the Beautiful
Susan Haskell - One Life to Live*
Jeanne Cooper - The Young and the Restless

I'm very glad that Susan got her emmy tonight. Between the reveal scenes at Todd's house and Marty and Nora's intense fight after Matthew's diagnosis, SH was phenomenal. She definitely deserved this.

As one of Debbi Morgan's biggest fan, I must admit that Susan had a better year even though I enjoyed Debbi's reels more....all in all...Susan is amazing and this Emmy win is well deserving...

I thought Debbi was going to win, but I can't complain about this one. All 5 of the nominees were former winners and great actresses, so they couldn't really get this one wrong.

Should have gone to Jeanne. She's truly the grande dame of daytime and one hell of an actress!!

Jeanne Cooper, we will get it right next year!! Maura West and Susan Flannery are great, though.

What an upset, I was so hoping Debbi Morgan would win.

Congrats Susan, this is probably one award that could've gone to any of them.

The funny thing is...Susan could very well put herself in the running for best actress next year, based on the second half of what Keri pointed out(where Marty & Nora duked it out after Matthew was diagnosed).
I'm happy that she won, but would have been OK with Morgan or Cooper taking the Emmy.

haskell's performances are what got me hooked on OLTL last year. KUDOS to her. a well deserved win.

With Haskell winning Best Actress, doesn't OLTL house the most Best Actress winners all at the same time? Slezak, Strasser, Smith and now Haskell. Does any other show currently have four Best Actresses who won for the roles they play on their current show?

I'm glad for Susan, she's a wonderful actress, although I think she's done better work in 2009 than in 2008. I really wanted to see Debbi Morgan win. She was great during Angie and Jessie's reunion

Definitely thought Debbi Morgan should have taken it, but oh well...
btw, at the end of SH's acceptance speech, when they turned the camera onto the audience, anyone notice the incredibly bored look on Jon Hensley's face (and he was chewing gum too, lol)? Cracked me up for some reason.

She''s also dressed like a winner. That's a hard dress for most to pull off but it really works for her.

DTP, that's a GREAT trivia note! Off the top of my head, I think you're right. But for the love of all things trivial, I think I'll research to see that for all the categories, as well as, what show currently has the most Emmy winners on their canvas. And by that I mean, people who've won Emmys while ON their current show and those who've won on other shows.
Time to crack open the books...

I notice Jon Hensley's face too, and it totally cracked me up. Whenever I got bored during the show, I enjoyed looking for everyone else that was bored too. I distinctly remember Ron Moss starting to clap at something only because he noticed the camera on him!
As for Susan, I was ecstatic. One of the main reasons I didn't mind that storyline (yes, I'm one of the few) was because of the amazing work that Susan and Trevor did, and the climatic scenes were just breathtaking all around. (Except for Michael Easton, who grumbled his way through as usual.)
