DAYS' Lindsay Hartley: "This Character is Nothing Like Theresa"

Passions alum Lindsay Hartley assures Days of Our Lives fan the role of Arianna won't become Theresa 2.0 now that she's assumed the part.
"This character is nothing like Theresa," Hartley told me on the red carpet outside of the 36th Annual Daytime Emmys. "Arianna is a drug dealer, but she has a strong motivation for what she's doing that you will see very soon. What I love about being on DAYS is that the stories have a resolution. They don't just go on and on without any pay off. You will definitely see pay off with Arianna's story."
Another show known for giving its diehard fans payoff, is the CW's Smallville, which costars Hartley's real life hubby Justin Hartley as Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) ally Oliver Queen aka The Green Arrow.
"Justin will be in the majority of the episodes this season," says Hartley. "The new season starts on Sept. 25, be sure to check it out!"

I love that LH is on Days now and I hope the haters come around. LH is a true soap talent and it is good to see her on TV again. That girl carried Passions on her back for nine years and she can still stand up straight!
Cute little plug for her hubby's show, btw

I couldn't agree more, Scout. Lindsay has everything that FT lacked for this role. You can't even tell that she's a recast.

Whaa????? You mean that Lindsay won't be crying buckets and buckets of tears for us???? But that's what Theresa would do!
Soap actors jump from soap to soap to pay their bills. Three former Passions actors on Days hardly makes for Passions 2.0!
Roscoe Born went from Ryan's Hope to One Life to Live to AMC back to OLTL and then to Y&R and hopefully back to OLTL.
BTW, why hasn't NBC or Sony publicist put out more of an effort to publicize Hartley's reteaming with her former Passions' co-star? I swear, the incompetence of soap publicists, or TIIC who dampen their efforts, is incredible.
Here's a non-secret: web advertising is dirt cheap! Why not advertise Hartley's return to soaps on site that would attract her Passions' fans.
BTW, have you seen any ads for Crystal Chappell's return?
OLTL has the most diverse cast, probably the largest number of African-Americans on daytime. Have they made any efforts to advertise this on African-American targeted media? What about sending the stars to be interviewed?
Where are the interviews with Tika Sumpter, Daphne Duplaix, etc.?
Soap opera marketers need to get their butts moving!!

While the whole actor switch reeks of the "REALGREENLEE" debacle on All My Children, I have to say I love Lindsay Hartley, and I don't see ANY trace of Theresa.
She is playing this part so mature and cool. She is amazing. I have not watched DAYS in about 8 years, but I have started up again now that AMC is crap and LH is on.

How is this like "The Real Greenlee"? I don't remember a campaign about her coming on board.

Great post Jamey. I kinda want Theresa 2.0 but i will take LH anyway i can get her. I love her on DAYS and i can't wait to see where her character goes.
I'm just waiting for the scene when LH goes up against Sami. You will be able to hear me scream where ever you live.

Wait she isn't Theresa 2.0??? *Puts fingers in ear and says 'I cant hear you'*
I am a huge LH fan, but i can see her 'becoming' Theresa 2.0. the only real difference is that this time Theresa gets GOOD WRITING lol.
I know she is a drug dealer now, but maybe she's working with the Salem p.d. to take down the drug lord (who they don't know is Victor) and then it will just go from there, maybe Ari will become the head of the Kiriakes's and get all that money and power lol.
I am looking forward to seeing where things go, it will be a fun ride.
I do completely agree that the publicist need to play up the Passions reuniting thing, i mean come on if you are not a passions fan and you don't follow all the soap news you know nothing about them being reunited. So come on NBC Get all those 12 year old screaming fan girls (and me) back and watching your show!

Not impressed with Lindsay right now. That was a bitchy slight against the late, great James E. Reilly. Anyone who thinks Dena Higley's "writing" is better than Reilly's is on PCP. Now I have even less of a reason to watch Days.

Alistar Crane I don't think it was a slam against Reilly at all. He simply didn't ever finish stories on Passions. I have often wondered why he never gave fans of that show payoff. On DAYS he made us wait forever, but eventually we got our payoff, then the next arc began. Passions ended without Sheridan and Luis being together and so many other dangling threads. I can understand how that was frustrating for the stars of the show.

No, there wasn't a campaign. I was referring to the way one actress was abruptly ousted in favor of a more popular actress.

I think in their own equal way, Higley and Reilly are/were both a couple of hacks.

Reilly was a genius. There was a reason why he was the last person ever to get to create their own original soap opera.
Jamey, it was a slam. She was criticizing his writing for not paying off stories, and to me, that's not nice and also not true. Gwen was exposed for leaking Ethan's paternity, and Theresa and Ethan finally got married. Total pay off there.
I bet if Passions had run for one more season, Shuis, Gram, and Charguel fans would've gotten pay offs equal to the Therethan pay off.
Anyway, I just don't like this Days writing love Dena Higley has proven A) during her first Days stint B) at OLTL and C) her current Days stint that she is just not a capable head writer for a daily daytime drama.

At the same time, Alistair, it has to be frustrating for actors to basically be playing the same story for nine years.

Wait, I watched Passions from day one and the reveals/payoffs were incredible. The New Years episodes, Ethan's paternity, the Woman in Red, Summer in Rome, Vincent/Valerie.
No one could do a reveal like JER. I loved it. Yeah, the stories went on and on (and on) but they grew within their arcs. You kind of got used to it. Either way, loved Passions. LOVE LH and everyone is entitled to his or her (or in Vincent/Valerie's case 'its') opinion.

I’ve been watching Days for years now and can hardly understand what is going on! It’s changed into a new show and the change is not for the better.
All the beautiful faces are gone and were replaced by the castoffs of that failed show and Arianna is an example for it! If Passions was so great then there would of been enough fans to keep the show on the air. If TPTB insist on on firing the vets to make room for Passion's actors then I am sure they will meet the same 'fate' as that joke of a soap.
The new actress is not doing a good job, neither did she on Passions. I have no interest in watching a redux of Ethan and Theresa and I am sure many other DOOL fans feel the same way.
