BREAKING NEWS: Ugly Betty Gets Cancelled!

According to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, Ugly Betty is getting the axe. Ausiello reports, the show's current season, its fourth, will be its last. Additionally, ABC has cut the current 22 episodes down to just 20. In a joint statement to EW, Betty's showrunner Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson state,
We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.

This sucks. I'm gonna miss Ugly Betty. I'm not really all that shocked though since it moved to Friday night. Maybe if it was still on before Grey's Anatomy it could have had a chance. Anyways, I'm anxious to see the final episode...

I couldn't stand Betty either. She annoyed the crap out of me.
I have been a fan of Vanessa Williams since I was 7. She is the reason I started watching. I also loved all the side character. Betty was the weakest thing on this show. Betty and Daniel.
I stopped watching when Betty dissed Gio. I loved Gio and it was nice that Betty was actually attracted to a Latino. Gio was the one who inspired Betty to go for her dream. He gave her this confidence.
Sad to see Vanessa not on tv but since I hate Betty, I really don't care.

This saddens me. This was my show. The promos got me excited from day one. I am not a huge America Ferrara fan but I do enjoy the show and the ensemble. It will be sad to see it go, but I have been getting the feeling this whole season that this could be it.
SO Sad. More NY shows gone. Love Vanessa Williams and PLEASE bring back my beauty Rebecca Romeijn!!!! Rebecca was a Goddess on this show.

I loved me some Gio.
He was so cute with his little sister. When he invited Betty to go on a trip with him then that trick turned him down
Gio was short and pudgy but he had a sex appeal Henry couldn't touch. I don't care how great Henry's 12 pack and thigh muscles were.

I've loved Ugly Betty from Day One and am sad to see it go. I think ABC killed it by yanking it from the schedule intermittently and then moving it from Thursdays to Fridays to Wednesday. I LOVED it on Wednesdays and was excited about being able to watch Glee and then UB on the same night.
I was looking forward to seeing some of the s/l's play out and now I fear the show will be rushed to tie things up in a tidy package, especially with 2 less episodes now. In my wildest dreams, wouldn't it be great if SoapNet or some other network picked it up? Hey, I hear NBC is desperately looking for hour-long shows right now!

Betty is a show I look forward to each week. And I have loved America Ferrera since Real Women Have Curves. Imagine having your weight as much a part of the discussion as your talent and she is still just 25 years old. Do you ever hear anything about her private life, no, which is a nice change of pace from so many of the young women in her age group. Betty is also a show which even before they moved to NYC reflected the city where I have lived my entire life, we come in varying colors, shapes, sizes, and beliefs and we have to find a way to coexist. Have I loved every plot, no, but I have always cared about the characters. I'd rather see Betty alone than with Daniel. I know the telenovela has that ending but Betty and Daniel have worked hard on this friendship, it should be respected. why cant she end up alone, why is the "happy ending" a relationship?

Happens every time a show is put in the friday night lineup. Maybe cable will pick it up like they did Monk. Monk wound up staying on the air fri nights on USA for about 5 yrs after the networks got rid of it. I don't know why the networks are so fast to cancel or switch timeslots.
IA with others who say that if they need to end the show having Betty with someone, bring back Gio, he was a great guy. DANIEL? LOL He's a boy in a mans body. His match is the receptionist. 2 airheads.
