BREAKING NEWS: Genie Francis Returns to GH!

WELCOME BACK GENIE!
BREAKING NEWS: The AP is reporting that Genie Francis is returning to General Hospital.
In the interview with the AP Francis says the following.
"This is a short visit," Francis told The Associated Press on Friday. "It's a mother-daughter story. Years ago when I started playing the character as a 14-year-old girl, it was a mother-daughter story, only I was the daughter. So it's kinda cool this is full circle. It's nice to come back for visits. `General Hospital' is my home.
Second quote:
"I would stay on, but `General Hospital' honestly doesn't seem to want that relationship with this character at the moment," said Francis. "They want little short doses during sweeps periods. It's not entirely up to me. I'm thrilled and delighted my audience stands behind me. If they didn't, you can be sure I wouldn't get to come back for these visits."
Genie's first episode back as Laura Spencer will air August 26th.

That is great news and God knows we need something good to happen on GH. I am just wondering how they are bringing her back, wonder if she comes out of the coma again? Maybe Lulu visits her and she wakes up and talks to her daughter? Should be real interesting to see. Maybe she will get such a good response that they will let her stay on longer. Then, they could get rid of Claudia and pay Genie the big bucks.

Always happy to see Genie back on screen and she was diplomatic but truthful in why she's not sticking around.
Do we know when Tony's back?
Maybe Lulu "hears" Laura giving her advice.
If she does come back to life, she needs to comfort Scotty on the loss of his son.
I agree, get rid of Claudia (and the whole Z family) and keep Genie!

I hope Laura can knock some scence back into Lulu and tell her that turning into Carly 2.0 is not the way to live your life.
I do hate the fact that it is only short term. It seems GH doesn't care about it veteran characters and only want to portray GH as the "Gansta's Island" that it has become. What ever the storyline will be between Laura and Lulu will be enjoyable, but it won't change my opinion about GH.

Great news for GH fans! Hopefully GH will come around and decide she is good enough to stay on a permanent basis. To me, Laura (with Luke and family) represents everything the mob is not, so maybe GH feels she is too much of a conflict for their agenda. You do have to be careful what you wish for. Luke mentioned the mob should be Russian since that is the dominant in real life. Well...it looks like you got that too!

I'm thrilled that Genie is coming back however I'm disappointed that as usual it's short term....I'm sure if she were to stay though they would ruin her character like they have all the vets so maybe short term isn't such a bad thing? Hopefully getting Genie back is just what GH needs.

I am glad to see GF back, but I am afraid that the tiic is going to screw this up royally like they did other vets and their return tanked. I going to reserve judgment until whats on the screen. I do hope this isn't to prop JOLU or get sympathy for the character that everyone hates. But what do I know. GH hasn't been good for the last ten years.

I would rather not have GF come back just to play second fiddle to the yelling, annoying Carly Jr, Lulu. Since Lulu is suppose to have a "break down" my guess is that Lulu will have a vision or a dream of her mother and Laura will be trying to help Lulu come out of her break down. I for one am pissed. I would rather Laura came back and hooked up with Scott out of revenge for learning that Luke faked his wedding and that he was married to Tracy the whole time and still married to her. That would be a great storyline. Bad enough Anna only comes back to play second fiddle to Robin and poor Noah.

I'm thrilled that Genie is returning "home" to GH, although I'm a bit perplexed at how they will top her last stint on the show. I'm also thinking that it could be all in Lulu's mind, her mother appearing to help her out of her breakdown. If they go that route, it could be interesting but I'd hate to see them miss the opportunity to resolve unfinished business with Luke and Tracy, not to mention the Scotty/Rick Webber incident.
I'm curious how long she'll be on? I'm wondering about the timing, since GH tapes about 3 weeks ahead of what's airing now. Genie's kids would be out of school and more able to travel with her to California, but summer is also the busy season for her shop in Maine. If she's first airing in late August, the kids would have to be back in Maine by Labor Day for school. I fear she won't be on long. Enjoy her while we can.

I hate to say it but I really have no interest in this. I'm tired of G.H. jerking us around. I'm sick of these 1 week offshoots. Either bring her back for an extended time or leave her alone. I'm bout' done with this!
I'll watch her of course because I watch the show anyhow so this stunt casting they keep doing I don't think is gonna have the effect they want.
Noone who isn't watching will watch because once they get jazzed up about her return they will then hear it is only a week and say why bother!!
