Looks like they're gearing up for a big mob showdown this summer. GH is a mob soap (not being facetious) so it doesn't surprise me. Hey, if the writing gets better and the show gets more exciting, and if they use the fan faves that they've already got on canvas, then I'd be okay with it...

I just so sick of Guza and his crap of mob bs on this soap. it is about the hospital, not about the mob for the upteenth time. I know mob was in when Luke and Laura was on the run, but it was not on 24/7 and we know who were the guy guys and the bad ones. Now Pruza just is having a field day with this mob bs and it is not the Sopranos or the Godfather series, lest be honest, was way more better than GH ever had on this soap about the mob. That why I am turning out of this soap until some new writers come on board.

I guess it's too much to hope that all these mob characters are being brought in to over-saturate Port Charles to the point that they all kill each other & completely end the mob in PC. I have just never met a writer or a network head more committed to pissing people off just for sh*ts & giggles the way Guza & Frons are. The more the fans complain about the mob crap, the more they give us the mob crap. The more we clamor for Liason, the farther apart Liz & Jason get. It's way too much for me to be mad about it anymore; at this point, it's just weird.

I can't believe GH is still milking this mob thing. The Sopranos ended a long time ago. Nobody cares anymore!

Worst. Soap. Ever. ANOTHER mobster character?! What is Guza doing? Why is he turning this show into a sad, inferior, copy-cat of a wannabe "Sopranos?" I know they think they must be doing something right because they won the Emmy but we all know it was only because of the Metro Court hostage stunt-story. The rest of the year was filled with sad history-destroying, killing legacy characters and destroying the essence, heart and soul that used to fill this show. I am sorry for the actors who have to recite the same drivel dialogue day after day. And it makes me question why the fanbase for this show is still so strong. All they do is complain and complain but yet they continue to watch it. I am so glad that I gave up this show and I watched on and off for 25 years. It started to depress me and if I want to watch really great mob related stories, I will pop in my "Godfather" movies or any season of "The Sopranos." Even they had better conflict and more family dynamics and events that happened organically which I believe JFP and Guza have entirely given up on. They should both be fired. Bring back Claire Labine!!

As I said in the forums, as long as GH continues to do well in the ratings, the show will continue to have a strong mob influece.

I assume there is a strong group clamoring for jolu while some loved Lulu and logan, and a strong group clamoring for clauson while another wants Skate and yet another that wants Carson, a strong group and a strong group clamoring for Lusam or even JaSam and not Liason at all . etc. etc. unfortunately whomever they pair one character with another, there is bound to be a sizeable group that they also anger.

I am with Daisy, I dont mind this potential story IF its well conceived and well executed. I enjoy any sort of story as long as its well written and believable.

GH is pulling in under 3 million a week...WELL IN THE RATINGS?!?!they are getting less then half of what they got 10 years ago, and a far cry away from 12 million viewers a week during the 80s...so if making the mob the central of the show is trying to...ahem.."bump" ratings, they have failed for the past like 5 years...so dont give us that crap....

The Ratings tanked long ago... I don't know about you guys, but #3 is not good.. Sadly my YT viewing has dwindled down to watching Spin/Max and Jason only.. Once SB is gone I doubt I will watch again.. Unless by some miracle the show acutally improves... but not holding my breath! OLTL has gained a more frequent viewer in me.. (despite my hatred of Todd and the original Marty coming back)

Jill all soaps are down across the board, not surprising with the major changes in the way folks are watching tv and the explosion of options for viewing. But look at the numbers from a comparitive aspect.

But my other point got missed entirely. When someone says tiic are showcasing people that nobody cares about, that assumes that the characters that person likes are universally liked. You mentioned you love Liz and Jason and that you hate that your favorites are getting pushed out for others that no one likes. Well I LOATHE Liz. Havent liked her since she took a pipe to zanders head. I LOVE SJB and I really really like Claudia. nadine is growing on me. I LOVE SAM!! I havent seen enough of "dr. creepy" to have made an opinion yet - so far not liking him much but days fans loved him on that show, so I am waiting to see where it goes. I use to love Lulu, now not so much, but I dont dislike her yet so much that I couldnt see myself liking her again down the road. etc. etc. So its not true to say "nobody" and I am certain that I am not the only one.

I think the writing hasnt been good the last few months, but I like probably 90% of the characters on the show and thats been true since I started watching back when Laura was first married to Scotty. And much like with real people some days I like my favorites less than other days and some days I hate the character I dont like less than other days.

So I dont object to the mob in general or even to this particular character. I just wish the writing would get better.

You assume that TPTB are listening to the fans clamoring for these other pairings but not those fans who are clamoring for the Qs, the Cassadines, Jason and Liz, Georgie alive, Scott with a story, Alexis with someone who didn't shoot Robin, and Robin to act like an adult?

Those are real big assumptions. I only asked if they even cared what the fans want. I honestly don't see any indication that they are not sabotaging their own show. I think, if they are listening to any fans, the fans they listen to are the fans who agree with their vision.

I dont understand what you are saying....I can assume that those different groups vocally express themselves because they have all have a fan base.

I think that tptb look at a number of things before they write including neilsens, internet traffic, youtube hits, fan mail, phone calls and even things like focus groups - how could they not, thats pretty much business 101. But if you listen and the fan bases are split, doesnt that leave a lot of leeway to write what you think will interest the audience. And if the end result is strong ratings, esp. in key demos, doesnt that reinforce to you that your choices are at least somewhat correct.

Hey I would love to see most of what you suggest -- I was one of the first to ask why edward wasnt pacing the halls of the hospital when Michael got shot. Georgie dying made no sense when they brought in pretty much the exact same character in Nadine who has no ties and history to the canvas. I ADORE scott (and hoped for an appearance by serena) and lord knows I have been extremely vocal about how much I hate Jlex, despite loving SR. And yes, Robin needs to stop trying to control every aspect of the world. But these are only MY opinions.

i dont think GH is perfect, but I think its stronger than it sometimes gets credit for. Compare to AMC, for example, its a down right masterpiece. LOL

Bringing up Lucas made me think. Wouldn't it be interesting to have a gay mobster? If your going to bring on other mobster to the 50 you already have, why not do it with a twist? Something new.

This is ridiculous. I would think that people are calling (they're certainly blogging about it) about how they don't want the mob. I read that at the fan club weekend that the actors said to call/ write in and that TPTB do listen to the fans. So either no one is listening or else there are a large group of vocal people out there who enjoy the mob.

Maybe we should all send TPTB a case of booze  with a note saying, 'We thought you'd enjoy more booze seeing as you are under the fluence with all this crap you are writing.'

I just wonder if Super Jason is going to fly down and save all the citizens of Port Chuckles from Karpov and Zacharra's so that they can all co-exist with Sonny.

I know people are sick of the mob on GH but the major problems with this show is not the mob. It is the writing plain and simple. I just wrote in another post about Anna and Duke and how wonderful they were and they were involved in mob story lines. Also, Luke and Laura, Sonny and Brenda. Three great romances all involving the mob. The mob could be an interesting part of GH. What better way to showcase the hospital than with the mob? That last line was a joke by the way. To me GH doesn't respect its characters or the viewers. Remember, when you actually liked and cared for Sonny when he had depth. This show needs to look at itself and explore the wonderfulness that is GH and its history. Make us care and laugh and cry with these people that we have known for years. And until it does that the frustration that the fans feel will continue.

Also, stop making the police look like idiots. Instead of always having a tug of war between mobsters have it between the mob and the police. GH can be an intriguing drama and a sweeping grand romance. GH needs to take back its mantel as the best soap. It's become too painful to watch in its current state.
