Splurge on the real thing. "I'd rather have one small bite of something I'm craving than a fat- and sugar-free version of it. My best friend gave me an ice cream maker, so I can whip up a thick, creamy dessert and be satisfied with just a spoonful or two."

Alison Sweeney Heads to Mercy

It seems like one of daytime's hardest working women will be adding yet another gig to her plate. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that Days of our Lives star and The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney will make a guest spot on Mercy in March. According to Ausiello,

Sweeney will play a bus crash victim who appears to have only minor injuries. However, the docs and nurses soon discover (spoiler alert!) that she has shrapnel in her brain causing her to act out of character.

Sweeney Hosts Feeding America Benefit

Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney has high hopes for success for her work with Feeding America, the nation's leading non-profit, hunger relief charity. She became aware of the organization when she was hosting The Biggest Loser  and has been involved with them ever since. Sweeney opened her home and hosted the Hallmark Celebri-Tree Holiday Open House benefiting Feeding America and spent some time with TVGuide.com talking about her experience and the Clothes of Our Back auction.

TVGuide.com: Do you think the hunger-relief cause resonates more with the holidays upon us?
Sweeney: It does. It's funny when I talk about Feeding America, because people think about it during the holidays, but this is an issue we have to deal with year-round. But it's absolutely right that the issue is at the forefront even more during the holidays. People are more sensitive to it, and people have more time to participate and help. There are a lot more volunteers, and we want to encourage that. That's what I love about Feeding America. It's not just about the dollars, as important as money is. It allows people who can't donate a lot to make a big difference [by] volunteering at food banks or donating canned goods or whatever little you can donate. Every dollar makes a big difference.

Alison Sweeney Keeps It All Together

CelebrityBabyScoop.com caught up with the busy Alison Sweeney to chat about her life. Sweeney, who has played Days of our Lives vixen Samantha Brady for 17 years, is also host of The Biggest Loser and mother to children Ben, 4 and infant Megan. She talked about how she manages to keep those plates spinning without falling off the stick.

CBS: How do you do it all? What is your best advice for busy working moms on how to keep a good balance.

AS: I wish I had an easy answer to that. It's always easiest to say it starts with balance but it's about every day making the decisions you can live with for that day. Then it is about looking back over the day/week/month and making sure that you are keeping everything in check, that nothing is falling too far off your radar. Also, since I've decided to continue my career, I try to make it a practice to honor that decision by giving my job 100% while I'm there - not regretting that decision or feeling guilty - if I'm going to be away from my kids, I owe it to them to make that time worth it. And then when I am with Ben, I put the blackberry aside, and give him my full attention.
