The best argument the soap opera genre can make in favor of its own survival airs at 2pm EST on ABC/ 9pm EST on SOAPnet. Its name is One Life to Live.
OLTL's fictional town of Llanview, PA. is a town rich in history, overflowing with talent, boisterous in personality and uninhibited by an addiction to one or two characters.
Monday’s nod to Grey Gardens–acted out by the fantastic foursome of Robin Strasser, Kassie DePaiva, Trevor St. John and Florencia Lozano–and the seamlessness with which it was woven into the double wedding ceremony of Viki to Charlie and Nora to Clint is one of many examples of why OLTL has surpassed The Young and the Restless as the genre’s most well-written soap opera. Perez Hilton Links DC's Post About OLTL's Carlotta Drama
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on June 29, 2009 - 3:15pm
Perez Hilton has linked Daytime Confidential's breaking news item about the recasting of Carlotta Vega on One Life to Live. As we previously reported, actress Patricia Mauceri was reportedly fired from the role and replaced with Saundra Santiago after Mauceri allegedly vehemently protested an upcoming beat in the gay storyline featuring Kyle (Brett Claywell) and Fish (Scott Evans) that had Carlotta, as a result of a comedy of mistaken identities, believing her son Cristian (David Fumero) was gay, as opposed to his roommate Fish. OLTL's David Fumero on Wife Melissa: "We Are Obsessed With Each Other"
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on May 9, 2009 - 8:34am
It looks like Daytime Confidential bloggers aren't the only ones who love our Bitchy Bangs. In the latest issue of OK!, One Life to Live hunk David Fumero is featured in the magazine's Man Candy Feature, and has some sweet things to say about his wife, Melissa (ex-Adriana, OLTL).
"We're obsessed with each other." David tells OK! of actress Melissa, whom he met on the daytime drama and married a year ago. "We're so good together it's all natural."
Sigh. Wouldn't it be wonderful if David could whisper sweet nothings in Melissa's ear and convince her to come back and save us—and Rex and Gigi's (John-Paul Lavoisier and Farah Fath) storyline—from the plague that is Stacy (Crystal Hunt)? For more on what David has to say about things like his and Melissa's TV addiction and his desire to live on the edge, check out the latest issue of OK!, and don't forget to pick up your copy of his new soaptastic movie Manhattanites!
One Life to Live's Layla and Cristian, Summer's Next Sizzlin' Couple?
Submitted by Luke Kerr on April 3, 2009 - 11:23pm
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sort of enjoying the antagonistic pairing of One Life to Live's Layla (Tika Sumpter) and Cristian (David Fumero). I really hope the writers drag this love/hate relationship out and don't rush it. Thanks to Evangeline and Sarah, there is plenty of history just sitting there ready and waiting to provide obstacles on their path towards self imposed "forbidden love."
Are you enjoying Layla and Cristian?

I'm back, gentle readers, and not a moment too soon. Since we were last together, real life has provided more plot twists than an episode of Lost, but I've still managed to faithfully watch the stories day in and day out. While there are a few larger topics that I'll be addressing in the next few days and weeks, it turns out a little time and distance provides the opportunity for a bit of clarity and perspective on issues that one might have been previously too close to appreciate. In that spirit, here are a few completely random observations about the five soaps I normally watch that I've noticed in the little over a month since I last posted. These observations generally are not a part of the usual list of talking points, but just a number of things that have popped in my head. Without further ado... READ MORE
