Nia Peeples
From Executive Producer Nia Peeples, "The Teen Whisperer"
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on July 31, 2009 - 6:23am
She may not have been able to save her marriage to Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) on CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless, but Nia Peeples is bound and determined to save our nation's troubled teenagers. Peeples is the executive producer of a new reality series pilot called The Teen Whisperer, starring Mike Linderman. The series appears to be based on The Teen Whisperer: How to Break Through the Silence and Secrecy of Teenage Life, written by Linderman, a therapist and cattle rancher, and Gary Brozek. This show would be perfect for ABC Family, I think Peeples has a hit on her hands! Check out the powerful trailer after the jump. READ MORE

REVIEW: Tom Casiello's First Episode of Y&R
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on April 21, 2009 - 7:59am
Picture it. Genoa City, Wisconsin. Monday, April 20, 2009. A foster child/custody storyline so boring, so polarizing, so utterly pointless, by comparison it makes Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet seem like edge-of-your-seat entertainment, is finally, mercifully climaxing on CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless.
While I knew weeks ago that yesterday would be the day when Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) and his wife Karen (Nia Peeples) would face off in court with Tyra (Eva Marcille) over the custodial fate of Sally Sing-A-Lot aka Ana. I also knew this episode would be important for another reason. It would be the first air show since officially rejoining the soap opera writing community for former Days of Our Lives scribe Tom Casiello, whose My Space blog became a soap fanboy/girl's wet dream during the 2007-2008 Writers' Strike. Talk about pressure. For his first show, Casiello would have to help breathe life into the only storyline stinker left on the soap opera since the Dream Team of Maria Arena Bell, Paul Rauch and Hogan Sheffer began masterfully restoring The Young and the Restless, following the destructive tenure of Lynn Marie Latham. Did Y&R's Nia Peeples Put Eva Marcille and The Soap's Executive Producer on BLAST?!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on March 5, 2009 - 9:01am

We just found out that The Young and the Restless actress Nia Peeples apparently put a few peeps at the CBS soap on blast during her interview with Brandon's Buzz.
Now we haven't heard the interview ourselves yet—can't wait to get home and listen!—but according to a summary at Soap Opera Network, Peeples allegedly (Y'all know I'm a journalist so I have to say allegedly until I hear it for myself, no disrespect!) talked about how Y&R executive producer Maria Arena Bell allegedly tried to fire her when she took over the show and that the brass lied to her saying she would remain on recurring and her character Karen in Genoa City, then when Peeples, who was hired by Lynn Marie Latham, showed up to tape her last show the script read that Karen was moving to New York. According to Peeples, they were probably afraid she wouldn't show up to tape her last show! READ MORE
Wishful Casting: Robert Ri'chard as Y&R's Nate Hastings
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 7, 2008 - 3:51am
Ever since the return of Tonya Lee Williams as Dr. Olivia Barber Hastings Winters on The Young and the Restless was first announced, soap fans have been speculating about whether or not Liv's son, Nate could be far behind. Liv has mentioned Nate—the child she conceived with her deceased first husband Nathan and later raised with second husband Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore)—several times since arriving back in Genoa City. According to the storyline, Lily(Christel Khalil)'s older cousin is away at medical school. I say its time Nate transferred to a university closer to Genoa City and I have the perfect person to play him– Robert Ri'chard.
Like Bryton McClure and Tatiyana Ali, Ri'chard grew up on our screens in such sitcoms as Cousin Skeeter and One on One, and would bring with him a built-in audience. In recent years he played Paris Hilton's love interest in the camptasically-bad horror flick House of Wax. READ MORE

Young and Restless: Nia Peeples Returns
Submitted by Melodie on June 2, 2008 - 9:12pm
According to the current issue of Soap Opera Digest, Nia Peeples(Karen Taylor) is returning to Genoa City. The magazine reports that there is a "new storyline coming up that Karen will definitely be apart of." Digest also confirmed that the actress has now been placed on recurring contract status.
The last time we saw Karen, she was headed for New York City. Look for Peeples to head back to Genoa City in the next few weeks.
Young and Restless: Nia Peeples Out!
Submitted by Luke Kerr on May 19, 2008 - 4:19pm
TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco has confirmed in his latest Suds Report that Nia Peeples is in fact out at the Young & Restless.
The departure of Peeples from the role Karen Taylor may not comes as much of a surprise to most Young & Restless fans. Karen Taylor first arrived in Genoa City last year to act as a political consultant for Nikki Newman's failed senatorial campaign. Afterward the campaign ended Karen stuck around town and fell into a relationship with Neil Winters. Unfortunately, it's hard for any character to fill the shoes of Drucilla Winters and the pairing seemed to flounder in front of our eyes.
Peeples is currently set to appear in Between Heaven and Earth, which is in production. For more on Between Heaven and Earth visit IMDB.
As an aside, maybe if the Young & Restless had brought in Peeples in as a "take no prisoners" looking character like the one pictured from Peeples' Half Past Dead fans might have sat up and took notice at her character?
Did Lauralee Bell Turn Down Offer To Celebrate Y&R's 35th Anniversary On Screen?
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on March 13, 2008 - 8:48am
The cover of the new Soap Opera Digest set to hit the stands tomorrow (March 14) doesn’t make the possible return of former Y&R star Lauralee Bell (ex- Christine "Cricket" Blair) for the show’s upcoming 35th anniversary all that likely. While we haven’t had a chance to read the actual article (the cover page was released online a day earlier than usual), a picture of Bell with the words “No Thanks” in quotes across it appears on the cover near the right side at the bottom. Beside the picture reads the caption: “Lauralee Bell: Why She Refused To Return”. This could prove disappointing for fans who were looking forward to a mini-reunion of 90’s Y&R supercouple Danny and Cricket. It has already been confirmed that Bell’s former co-star Michael Damien (Danny Romalotti) is returning to the show. Danny's return will be at the behest of another of his exes, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), who summons him to town to deal with the latest drama concerning their son Daniel (Michael Graziadei), however pop star Damien is reported to be performing at least two songs when not dealing with his troubled offspring. Perhaps Danny will do a set with Neil (Kristoff St. John) 's current squeeze Karen (Nia Peeples) or Daniel's friend with benefits Amber (Adrienne Frantz)?
