Everyone can breath a sigh of relief! Daytime's first lady Susan Lucci revealed to the Associated Press her plans on sticking with All My Children. According to Lucci,
I made my final decision just a couple of days ago.

Don't expect her to hitch her truck and move to Beverly though. Lucci let it be known she will stay a New Yorker,

My life is here, said Lucci.

The AP also reports Lucci's co-star, Thorsten Kaye will not be moving to L.A.

Expect to see one less member of the fictional Martin clan. According to the news service, Ray MacDonnell who potrays the family patriarch Dr. Joe Martin, will retire.

Will Susan Lucci's Fate on All My Children be Decided This Week?

A little birdie (Wait, since it's Disney, shouldn't it be a little mousie?) has informed me ABC Daytime Chief Brian Frons is in New York this week for the premiere of his lineup's crowning jewel The View. Also reportedly on the agenda, is a sit down between Fronsie, Julie Hanan Caruthers and daytime's First Lady Susan Lucci about her future on All My Children.  An on set mole tells me Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Erica's cougar storyline was put on hold as the soap "worked out contract negotiations", yet was now expected to pick up steam. Hmmm.... Why One Life to Live Deserves to be The Last ABC Soap Standing

The best argument the soap opera genre can make in favor of its own survival airs at 2pm EST on ABC/ 9pm EST on  SOAPnet. Its name is One Life to Live.

OLTL's fictional town of Llanview, PA. is a town rich in history, overflowing with talent, boisterous in personality and uninhibited by an addiction to one or two characters.

Monday’s nod to Grey Gardens–acted out by the fantastic foursome of Robin Strasser, Kassie DePaiva, Trevor St. John and Florencia Lozano–and the seamlessness with which it was woven into the double wedding ceremony of Viki  to Charlie and Nora to Clint is one of many examples of why OLTL has surpassed The Young and the Restless as the genre’s most well-written soap opera.  READ MORE

Is Willey Being Phased OUT at AMC? Will Lucci be Forced on RECURRING?

Sources are telling TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco All My Children may be trying to phase out leading man Walt Willey (Jackson), and push daytime's most famous face Susan Lucci (Erica) to take recurring!

Don’t expect the contract player to appear in Pine Valley “for a while; they want to force him on recurring,” maintains an insider. ABC is also trying to figure out a way to throw Susan Lucci (Erica) on recurring, offers a major network insider. “She just costs too much,” he/she explained. Don’t worry, fans — the network doesn’t know how they will pull this off, but they’re trying to find a way to do it. Hello: L.A.!

RUMOR REPORT: Is Production of All My Children MOVING to Los Angeles?

Several sources have come forward, revealing to Daytime Confidential that ABC Daytime is strongly considering moving production of All My Children to Los Angeles!

"This has been talked about for quite some time," says one source. "It would be so much cheaper to produce the show in L.A., because they can build permanent sets. That's one of the reason's it is so expensive to do shows in New York, because you have to pay the Union workers to come in and break downs sets every day."

The big question is, would New York-based ABC veterans like Susan Lucci or Michael E. Knight move to L.A.?

"The network is getting to to the point where they have to do something to keep the shows profitable, so if they lose a few stars with the move, that's a risk they are willing to take," says a second mole. "A few years back there was talk of moving One Life to Live to Florida, but the network backed off because much of the veteran cast refused to move."

Reportedly this move would prevent ABC from having to cancel one of its three soap operas for the time being.

"That Aisha Tyler Show was definitely planned for the ABC Daytime lineup," says a source. "People at all three soaps were definitely worried, no matter what was said in the trades." READ MORE
