The Best Drunk Scene Ever
Submitted by J Bernard Jones on December 31, 2008 - 5:21pm.By now just about everyone knows how much many members of the Daytime Confidential family love a good soap drunk. This being New Year's Eve and all and with so many folks having a lil drinky drink to toast the the arrival of 2009 (and the end of 2008), I present to you one of the funniest drunk scenes in the history of daytime. I'm sure no one wants to end the Daytime Confidenitial year with Days of Our Lives' Melanie on their minds, therefore consider this clip a gentle mercy, a tonic for the common hair model. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LA LUCCI: A Tribute to Daytime's Most Unforgettable Diva
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 23, 2008 - 3:23am.
Daytime's most famous face, All My Children's Susan Lucci celebrates her birthday today. Now if you want to know how old she is, you'll have to go to another blog. I was raised by Southern women who taught me it wasn't polite to ask a lady her age, so I won't be telling La Lucci's.
The woman who has raised more Kane than the law should allow as Pine Valley's Erica since 1970, has given her millions of fans countless hours of pleasure, from daytime, to primetime (I think she's starred in 8,756 made-for-TV movies), to Broadway and most recently Dancing With the Stars.
Since I didn't start watching All My Children until the early 90's, I actually first came to know Lucci's work on one of my favorite primetime soaps, Dallas. Before that I only knew her as the pretty lady who always lost the Emmy.
On Dallas Lucci played the dastardly Sheila Foley whose high stakes, oil industry shenanigans resulted in the death of my beloved April Ewing (Sheree J. Wilson)—on April's honeymoon with Bobby (Patrick Duffy) no less. Damn you Sheila Foley! Continue Reading...
ABC Pay Cuts: Not To Say We Told You So...
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on December 2, 2008 - 1:23pm.
But we did. Everyone and their blogger is finally reporting what we here at Daytime Confidential reported first. Although, only All My Children has been cited by the mainstream press as having asked its actors—notably Susan Lucci—to take pay cuts, insiders have informed us the cuts will in fact affect all of ABC Daytime, cast and crew. Now while others in the soap media may run to the network to help keep "panic" from spreading, we're just gonna give it to ya' straight and dry, hold the mayo and the spin.

BREAKING NEWS: Agnes Nixon CONFIRMS All My Children PAY CUTS!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on November 26, 2008 - 5:37pm.
This just in. All My Children and One Life to Live creator Agnes Nixon has confirmed to Advertising Age that massive pay cuts have indeeed taken place at one of her two ABC soaps!
"All the actors on 'All My Children' have been reduced [in salary]," said creator Agnes Nixon, who also created the ABC soap "One Life to Live" and is now a paid consultant to the network's daytime division. "Susan Lucci, Michael Knight and Ray McDonald have all been reduced -- substantially. And so have I, as a consultant. The ratings are not the same."
In addition to ratings woes, the article cites the pisspoor state of the American automobile industry, a one-time strong advertiser during soap broadcasts, as reason for the economic hardships facing daytime television.
"The affiliate stations are really hurting because the automobile dealers don't advertise [like they used to]," Ms. Nixon said. "It's a ripple-down effect."
BREAKING NEWS: Susan Lucci Safe at All My Children!
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on November 25, 2008 - 11:36pm.
Don't believe the Globe magazine story that had All My Children frontwoman Susan Lucci "facing the axe". According to reliable sources, the superstar is definitely safe.
"Susan signed a new longterm deal awhile back," says one source. "It was in place before she booked Dancing With the Stars."
"Brian [Frons] isn't stupid," says another source. "He may do some questionable things, but he recognizes star power. Susan is the face of daytime and he gets that."
The Globe report, that hit newstands last Friday, ran as part of a center spread which also revealed Deidre Hall was on her way out at Days of Our Lives. Since we know how that story turned out we figured the Lucci story was worth looking into. Thankfully, daytime's most famous face will be sticking around to make breaking news for the forseeable future. Photo courtesy of Getty Images.

Erica Kane, So Many Men to Choose From
Submitted by Luke Kerr on November 18, 2008 - 10:17am.
All My Children's Erica (Susan Lucci) has had herself many a man over the years and one can't be too hard on her for it, after all she is Erica Kane. It's not like she's a wannabe diva from another ABC soap, who shall remain nameless for the sake of my hope (read the comments) that Pushing Daisies will be saved and who I must say nice things about for a month if it is, who slept with two men in one episode without a shower in between, but I digress.
Once again, Erica finds herself the center of at least two mens' attention, Adam (David Canary) and Jack (Walt Wiley). With the return of David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry), one can only wonder what might be in store for the former lovers.
Who do you want Erica with?
Lucci Voted Off Dancing With The Stars
Submitted by Jamey Giddens on November 6, 2008 - 10:43am.
To borrow lyrics from James Ingram, she did her best, but I guess her best wasn't good enough. Daytime's most famous face Susan Lucci, has been voted off Dancing With The Stars. Now, I readily admit I don't watch this program since I think reality television hastens Armageddon (unless of course it features all three of The Kardasian Sisters, Brody Jenner or Speidi :p) , so I haven't the foggiest idea what happened.
I am assuming Lucci didn't shake what her Mama gave her as well as some of the others like Lance Bass or Cloris Leachman (Is she still on there?). Oh well, never fret La Lucci, as All My Children's baddest bitch Erica Kane you've been a supermodel, a cosmetics tycoon, a showgirl and even rescued your lover from prison via helicopter; who cares if you can't do the Electric Slide? Go soak your foot, toss your silky, chocolate mane and practice asking that jealous Brooke English if she knows who you are in a vanity mirror.

Lucci's Last Night?
Submitted by Luke Kerr on November 5, 2008 - 5:33pm.
Susan Lucci's made it this far on Dancing With the Stars but it hasn't been the easiest. Lucci's was in the bottom two, the past two weeks.
Could tonight be Lucci the Legend's last or will she survive in a dramatically soapy twist?
Susan Lucci Scores 24
Submitted by Luke Kerr on November 4, 2008 - 12:55pm.Susan Lucci scored a 24 last night on Dancing With the Stars, but the reviews haven't been good (see MSNBC quote below or check out EW.com). Might Wednesday be LaLucci's last night?
“All My Children” daytime diva Susan Lucci raked in 24 points for a paso doble that still suffer from her frequent failures.
Sure, she kept up with the pace more than usual — though eagle-eyed viewers may credit that to the guiding hand of pro partner Tony Dovolani — but she looked anything but confident in the demanding, moody, matador number.
